Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Introduction
Obstetrics & Gynaecology is introduced to students as a subject in the 3rd year 6th semester. The lectures start in the 6th semester and will go up to 8th semester. The course consists of a series of lectures, small group discussions, Skills lab (hands on training) as well as clinical appointments.

The aim of the department is to produce medical graduates who will be competent in managing:
   1. Normal labours
   2. Identify high risk pregnancies and appropriate referral
   3. Obstetric emergencies
   4. Early pregnancy problems
   5. Common gynaecological conditions
   6. Gynaecological malignancies
